Several Back to the Future Funko POPs have been released over the years, although the most of them are associated with the original 1985 film. Later this year, though, when a collection of Funko POPs inspired by the sci-fi blockbuster are released to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the original movie, that will change. We’ll finally get additional Funko POPs from Back to the Future Part II along with some new collector figures based on the first film. See them listed below.
New Back to the Future Funko POPs
First up, Funko will add the Hill Valley Clock Tower from their POP Town collection like it is being struck by lightning. It will include a fresh portrayal of Doc Brown, dressed this time in the garb he wore on the eve of the infamous Hill Valley lightning storm in 1955. He even still has the scar from the moment he fell and banged his head on the toilet, which gave him the ability to see the flux capacitor that enables time travel. In relation to that…
Dr. Emmett L. Brown is receiving a few new Funko POP figures since Marty McFly has received the majority of the attention. There is a variation from the first Back to the Future movie that features Doc clutching a drawing of the flux capacitor while donning his less-than-effective telepathic headgear. A futuristic Doc is also present, dressed in attire from the year 2015, complete with those stylish silver specs.
The protagonist of Back to the Future, Marty McFly, is receiving a number of new figures. A 1950s-era Marty McFly is also present, carrying a homemade skateboard made from a child’s wooden scooter, along with a current Marty McFly wearing his trademark orange vest and wielding a video camera.
There’s also a version of Marty from the movie’s opening scene, when he’s donning his shiny sunglasses and engulfing Doc’s stereo with music from his Walkman. The fact that Marty is clutching a guitar from the 1950s rather than the small yellow guitar—which we would have preferred—mixes things up a bit.
A Funko POP of Marty McFly Jr. is also visible, replete with a self-drying jacket, unzipped pockets, power-laced shoes, and an iridescent hat. But that’s Marty McFly in disguise as his future kid, not Marty McFly Jr. The fact that neither sleeve is longer than the other makes it obvious.
Finally, the antagonist from the Back to the Future franchise, Biff Tannen, has his own Funko POP figure. Although this is the young Biff from the 1950s, we wouldn’t mind seeing a figure of the parallel Donald Trump Biff in 2015.
There is still no release date for these, after being revealed at Toy Fair 2020 back in February. We’re anticipating them either this summer around the time of the real 35th anniversary of the original movie on July 3 or on October 21, also known as Back to the Future Day because that’s when Marty McFly first went back in time.
