We finally have a high-budget live-action “Halo” TV show, which has been long overdue. based on the renowned video game series of the same name, which is about a conflict between The Covenant, an extraterrestrial civilization, and humans in the galaxy. As the mysterious, genetically altered Master Chief, played by Pablo Schreiber, the conflict and the universe as he understands it are profoundly affected by the artefact he discovers.
However, it appears that Schreiber has his sights set on another genetically altered super-soldier, one who has participated in numerous conflicts but has never before been portrayed by a real Canadian actor in a major motion picture. Yes, Schreiber is putting his mountie hat in the ice hockey ring to play Logan, a.k.a. The Wolverine.
Another tall Wolverine?
In an interview with The PlaylistBingeworthy podcast, actor Liev Schreiber talked about his career’s multiple attempts to enter the Marvel universe, saying that “We’ve never been able to find the right thing at the right time.”
Being Canadian, Schreiber naturally discussed the well-known Canadian mutant Wolverine, a part he appears to enjoy.
“Oh goodness, yeah. Well, we’ve flirted with that one for a while. That would be fantastic and would certainly be a dream casting. He’s actually my favorite hero from a child. He was always my favorite comic book, so yeah. I’ve had a long, long flirtation with that guy.”
Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine is now definitively, absolutely, 100% over, thus it is only a matter of time before the part is recast in a future film (after all, consider how frequently we get a new Batman!). Schreiber seems like a decent choice—he is fit, has a rugged, weathered appearance, and he is Canadian—but he shares Jackman’s issue with being simply too tall. Substantially while Jackman was already considerably taller than most fans perceive the character to be, Schreiber is even taller. Although Schreiber could certainly do the same as Jackman, who was able to make the character his own despite the height disparity, perhaps it would be preferable to find someone a little more screen accurate?
While you wait, you may watch Schreiber in the “Halo” show, which is currently streaming on Paramount+, as Master Chief.
