In case you missed it, Spider-Man: Far From Home, a Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures collaboration, will be in cinemas in a few weeks and will be heavily promoted by Doritos. The tortilla chip bags with Spider-image Man’s on them may have been displayed on store shelves. You haven’t seen, though, what Doritos came our way this week by mail.
This week, the maker of tortilla chips unveiled “Incognito Doritos”; this isn’t a new flavour of the snack food; rather, it’s a false bag of Doritos that contains a whole Spider-Man outfit, precisely like the one Peter Parker builds for himself in Spider-Man: Far From Home. The good news is that you can attempt to acquire your own.
Peter Parker’s backpack had the Incognito Doritos, which were obviously packed for a vacation to Europe. Not only was there a tiny real bag of Doritos inside, but there was also another bag that was obviously not a typical bag of chips. The bag seems more like a tarp than a typical bag because it is significantly heavier than the chips. You then open it to get the contents.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t fit into the suit because I’m far from being in Spider-Man shape. It’s undoubtedly designed with an athletic mindset in mind. So, in my living room, my good friend Alex Pappas realised his ambition of becoming Spider-Man.
I believed the Incognito Doritos Spider-Man outfit inside this fake snack bag would be rather inexpensive when the idea behind them was presented to us. But unexpectedly, since it is made by Shafton Inc., the firm that creates the actual Spider-Man suits, this is an outstanding cosplay suit with high-quality materials.
The suit is made of a stretchy Under Armour-type material, and the black portion of it has excellent detailing. Even the Spider-Man logo on the chest has tiny rubber accents, as do the feet’s rubber soles, the eyes’ plastic sections (which you can see out of), and the inevitable Doritos branding on the arm where your web shooter should be. Sadly, the outfit does not fire Doritos.
There are only a few of these suits left, so if you want one, tweet @Doritos and explain what superpower Doritos bestows upon you. Include the hashtags #IncognitoDoritos and #entry in your tweet. You can also visit IncognitoDoritos.com starting on June 20 (and continuing through June 27) to participate in an eBay auction where you can win a suit in exchange for real money. The entirety of the proceeds benefit Capes4Heroes, a nonprofit organisation that helps build customised superhero gear for children with disabilities, diseases, or who simply need to feel empowered (Doritos will also make a separate donation).
On July 2, 2019, Spider-Man: Far From Home debuts in theatres.
