Mace Windu, the Jedi master portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson, was one of the best characters developed for the Star Wars prequels. He’s actually a fairly badass Jedi, if you can forgive him for his terrible “This party’s over” statement from Attack of the Clones. But sadly, the Dark Side claimed the life of Mace Windu.
In a conflict with Darth Sidious after Anakin Skywalker had chosen the dark side, Sidious not only struck Windu with Force lightning but also used the Force to push him out the window. Since everyone is aware, Mace Windu passed away in Revenge of the Sith. But Samuel L. Jackson speculates that perhaps he didn’t? And it appears that George Lucas had no problem with that. However, it probably doesn’t matter at this point. After the jump, learn more about the likelihood of Mace Windu being alive.
It was George Lucas’ idea to kill off Mace Windu, according to Jackson, who first addressed the character’s destiny during a Twitter Q&A session. But Jackson added his opinions on the character’s future at the conclusion of his response. Here is the internet video response he provided:

Jackson then admitted that he had only made up Mace Windu’s survival of that encounter. But when it comes to Star Wars canon, that doesn’t actually signify much. Jackson continued to discuss the issue with Entertainment Weekly and stated, “Jedi are able to fall from incredible heights. And one-handed Jedi have a long history. Why not then?”
One thing for Jackson to believe that Windu is still alive is another, but it appears that George Lucas also gave Jackson the concept and that Lucas had no problem with Windu’s continued existence. The performer clarified, “George said, “I don’t mind that. It’s possible to live.” However, he also made the already obvious point that “George doesn’t have anything to do with it anymore”
That’s accurate. There is nothing in the Star Wars canon (before everything that belonged to Lucasfilm was given to Disney) that suggests Windu may have survived, even if Jackson and Lucas had decided he did after our last encounter with him inRevenge of the Sith. Now that Disney and Lucasfilm have their own unified canon, which likely excludes Mace Windu’s continued existence, everything created with Star Wars connections fits in with the rest of the galaxy.
The Lucasfilm story team can still make this minor information a part of canon even though it wasn’t before Star Wars was given to Disney. However, I don’t believe Lucasfilm and Disney are very eager to incorporate much from the prequels into this new trilogy or any upcoming films. However, there’s a potential that Mace Windu could be revived through the usage of a comic book or another kind of art. Don’t hold your breath, though.
